Certain These Clouds Go Somewhere - A Kickstart Project
I am running a Kickstarter during the month of May to help fund my very first solo exhibition since going full-time as an artist. Your support would mean so much to me!
Why, you might ask?
Brené Brown states in her book, Atlas of the Heart, that "we have to belong to ourselves as much as we need to belong to others." That finding a place to belong within our close circle of friends and within our community is essential to our well being; we need one another to survive. At the root of belonging, is being brave enough to be our most authentic self. Only then can we be accepted for who we truly are.
I've been working on this series, titled Certain These Clouds Go Somewhere, for the last three years. At its very core, it is a spiritual journey about connection. Connection to the Earth, with ourselves, and with each other; especially coming out of isolation these last two years.
While spirituality can be a personal practice, using art to bring these experiences to light allows for the start of the conversation, appreciation for different viewpoints, awareness to grow and a greater sense of connectedness.
What's in it for me?
There's a reward tier for every budget! Everything from behind-the-scenes access to an upcoming trip to Namibia (yes, Africa!) to first dibs on new artwork, studio tours and more!
What am I funding?
I've been bursting with ideas for months now but to keep it simple, here's what's happening:
- Printing and framing for a solo exhibition at Kreuser Gallery, November 2022. Some of these pieces require a large format to convey the proper emotion. (This cost adds up fast!)
- Production of a fine art, limited edition exhibition book
- Community Poetry event - we will host a poetry night pairing prose with art. These performing artists will be compensated for their time and contribution.

Back-up...did you say Africa?
Yes, I did! Two years ago, a trip to South Africa was spoiled by COVID. This time, I'm headed slightly North to the country of Namibia, most known for the Namib desert, complete with 5,000 year old petrified trees. It's an adventure of a lifetime; a place where I will find myself and lose myself all at the same time.
It's where I will finish this series. (You can check out the unfinished series here.)
Will funding go toward this trip?
Nope. That's all covered. If I surpass my funding goal, I'll use some additional funds for props or unforeseeable travels costs, but everything else is already taken care of.
Your support would mean so much to me! Kickstarter operates on an all or nothing model. Which means, if I don't reach my goal, I don't get funded. If that happens, I'll still find a way, because that's what I do, but with your help, it can be even greater than I can do on my own.
