Prayers for Rain
Oh, where to begin with this one…
I was having a conversation with my father the other day and the subject came up of my impending middle-aged birthday along with my third anniversary to Capt. Awesome and Dad cryptically says, “Some things you have to ask for.” Another couple of questions revealed he was referring to his longing for a grandchild (I guess a grand-dog doesn’t quite cut it!), the power of prayer, and the fact that I’m not getting any younger. Every woman loves to have that reminder. To which I laughingly brush it off with, “Are you trying to tell me my eggs are about to expire?”
TMI? Perhaps, but it got me to thinking. Yes, about the obvious, but also on more broad and generalized terms. Most of us are too shy or think we’re undeserving of what we want. If we don’t ask, the answer is almost always a resounding NO.
But asking opens up a world of possibilities which could also bring you closer to what you desire…in life or perhaps just for the evening. With that being said, Prayers for Rain speaks to one’s search for happiness in actively seeking out what you want in a lifetime. Not being afraid to ask for it (whatever “it” may be), believing in your own self-worth, and in having faith that your prayers are not only heard but answered.

Behind the Scenes - Prayers for Rain
This is one of my earlier pieces from when we lived on the East Coast. I had never seen a sumac tree before and became enchanted by those little red berries. Once cut, they resembled little trees all on their own right. So I arranged them in the dirt with a piece of fabric draped behind to easily remove the background and play with the horizon line.
Here was the setup. Sometimes simple backdrops are all that's needed.
